SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden can trace its origins back to the 17th century. Today SP is Sweden's most wide-ranging research and technology institute with advanced resources for research and development, technical evaluation and measurement technology. SP develops and disseminates good environment and sustainable development in the wider area of society as a whole. SP’s headquarters are in Borås, with representation at about a further dozen places throughout the country, close to engineering colleges and universities.
Regarding the area of measurement technology, SP works in close cooperation with the industry and position themselves between users, instrument manufacturers and sales organizations with the goal to quality assure measurement data. They do this by different tasks, such as calibration, type testing, standardization, assessments, knowledge transfer, consulting and research.
